Join United By Blue, Luke's Lobster, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Gulf of Maine Lobster Foundation, Maine Island Trail Association, Tenants Harbor Fisherman's Co-op, and George's River Land Trust for an offshore, island cleanup in Tenants Harbor, Maine!
Tenants Harbor is part of a group of towns on the coastal Maine peninsula of St. George. Made up of the peninsula and a large network of islands, Tenants Harbor is a hub for lobstering, fishing, and outdoor recreation. The stunning natural beauty of the islands attracts thousands of people and migratory species to the area every year, and is a treasured location for wildlife sightings. Year-round residents depend on the lobstering and tourism industry, which is supported by the health of the ocean and the bay.
To make sure this natural gem stays beautiful and healthy, United By Blue is teaming up with local partners and volunteers to clean up trash and pollutants in the area. We’ll head out on boats from Tenants Harbor to the surrounding islands, clean up any trash that we find, and then return to the harbor to enjoy a lobster bake lunch complements of Luke’s Lobster! A trail-based cleanup option will be available if you don’t want to head out on the boats.
Please dress for an ocean-based cleanup, with sturdy boat shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or wet, and bring sunscreen! United By Blue will provide all other cleanup supplies, drinking water, games/prizes, and lunch.
