Throughout Fall 2018, United By Blue and the City of Philadelphia have been tackling a large-scale dumpsite cleanup along the Schuylkill River. This cleanup effort has so far seen about 400 tires sent to recycling and hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash and debris removed by volunteers and machinery.
Join United By Blue and the City of Philadelphia for our final cleanup day at this site. You'll spend a Fall morning along the Schuylkill River, removing trash and debris that would otherwise wind up in the river. Please be prepared for some limited heavy lifting (optional), and working on uneven terrain. By cleaning this site, you will be directly improving our riverside ecosystems and our drinking water, and beautifying our community.
As a thank you for your volunteer service, you will receive a UBB stainless steel water bottle and a 25% discount off of UBB stores/online. All cleanup supplies, lunch (pizza), and water will be provided.
Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for a dumpsite cleanup. We strongly recommend thick layers of long pants and long sleeves, and work boots. Heavy-duty gloves will be provided. Please note, this dumpsite cleanup is not appropriate for anyone under the age of 18.
