Join United By Blue and The Fat Cardinal Bakery for a cleanup of Jamaica Bay! Jamaica Bay is wetland estuary, made up of many meadowlands, freshwater ponds, and islands and home to diverse wildlife species. It is a vital environment for both recreation and protective wildlife sanctuaries. Unfortunately, it is littered with trash and debris from neglectful visitors and still showing signs of Hurricane Sandy’s destruction in 2012.
United By Blue will provide water, trash bags, supplies, and gloves for volunteers. All volunteers will also have the chance to win prizes during two cleanup games: weirdest trash and total weight guess. Groups of all sizes are welcome!
Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or wet. This event is free and open to the public! Help us to preserve this New York City waterfront!
The Fat Cardinal Bakery will be rewarding all of the volunteers with freshly baked goods for all of their hard work!
