Join United by Blue, REI Milford and REI West Hartford for their first joint waterway cleanup! UBB has partnered with over 10 REI stores in the northeastern United States for a two week cleanup road trip. Help us celebrate World Ocean's Day (6/8) and National Trails Day (6/3) with a cleanup of Hanover Pond and the Quinnipiac River Trail! The Quinnipiac River passes through Hanover Pond, bringing trout (and fisherman) to its waters. Along the pond is Hanover Trail, a haven for hikers, bikers and runners, and across the road is the Quinnipiac Trail, a designated CT Greenway! Due to the trails and waterway’s proximity to residential development and recreational use, litter and debris can find their way onto the trail and the banks of Hanover Pond and Quinnipiac River. Help us preserve this green space and waterway for generations to come!
United By Blue and REI will provide water, trash bags, supplies, and gloves as well as Clif Bars for volunteers. All volunteers will have the chance to win prizes during two cleanup games: weirdest trash find and total weight guess. All volunteers will also receive an exclusive Cleanup Crew trucker hat! Groups of all sizes are welcome!
