Join United By Blue and NYC Parks for a cleanup of Pelham Bay at Orchard Beach in participation of International Coastal Cleanup day!
International Coastal Cleanup day is a global cleanup effort to work towards trash-free seas. By participating in this large-scale cleanup, we will contribute towards important data collection and trash removal before it has the chance to reach the ocean.
We will clean the shoreline of Pelham Bay in Pelham Bay Park, a treasured urban park with recreational use dating back to the 1800’s. Pelham Bay Park is home to several wildlife sanctuaries that exist to preserve and protect the plant and animal species that call this ecosystem home. Some of these species include horseshoe crabs, egrets, and cormorants, as well as a variety of unique wildflower species growing among the park’s saltwater marshlands. Pelham Bay has supported a harmony between recreational users and local wildlife for centuries, but can be affected by trash and debris that accumulates in the area. Join us for a cleanup in contribution to International Coastal Cleanup day, and in an effort to keep this park healthy for recreation and wildlife alike!
United By Blue will provide all cleanup supplies, snacks, and water. Please wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or wet.
