ABOUT ABOUT

Join REI and United by Blue for our 2nd annual cleanup of Randall's Island and Wards Island and the surrounding waterways: the Harlem River and East River, Hell Gate and the Bronx Kill. This historical landmark features salt marshes and freshwater wetlands, provides precious habitat for wildlife, and a large variety of recreational areas for sports, concerts, biking and running. Given the island's heavy use and proximity to one of the largest metro areas in the world, trash is drawn to the island and it's inlets. Help REI and United by Blue clean-up the island and preserve this urban sanctuary for generations to come.

United By Blue and REI will provide water, trash bags, supplies, and gloves as well as Clif Bars for volunteers. All volunteers will have the chance to win prizes during two cleanup games: weirdest trash find and total weight guess. Keep in touch for updates about the cleanup. Groups of all sizes are welcome!

United By Blue thanks Zipcar for its transportation support during the 2017 cleanup season.

Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty or wet.
